Stack employed scraps of wood that were staged for use at one of the last dragon kilns in Singapore. The wood is traditionally used for firing the kiln. I simply brought the wood to the gallery and stacked it, dividing the space forcing the viewer to enter the work and exit to the next section of the gallery. With a stool placed in the portal, I am inviting the viewer to sit and listen to a sound instillation that Dirk Stromberg produced for the work. After the instillation was over the wood was used in a firing to create ceramic sculptures.
